Why 09/09/09 09:09

The number 1 question everyone is asking me is why I launched on 09/09/09 09:09am EST

There really are 2 reasons that I am doing this.

#1 it’s a very cool date! Why not start today?  And since this date only comes along every 100 years, I thought I would take advantage of this opportunity to launch today!

You may not have realized this, but September has 9 letters in it, and today is Wednesday which also has 9 letters in it, and if that weren’t weird enough… today is the 252nd day of the year and if you add those numbers together they also equal 9.  Spooky.

#2 I want this blog to serve as an example of the concepts that I will be writing about. In my first video I spoke about strategy before tactics.  I strategically launched this blog today because I personally wanted a memorable date.  However I could have launch on any date. The key is taking action! You don’t need a special date to start, just make a plan and take action!

I want to let you know why there isn’t much content on this site. I purposely wanted to create a completely new site to illustrate that you can literally start from scratch at anytime and have a successful blog. I want to show how a blog can evolve, just take action!

I also want to hear from you. Let’s start a discussion.  Please answer one of the following questions in a comment below this post.

  1. If you have a blog, when and why did you start it and what advice can you give to a person considering starting a blog
  2. If you don’t have a blog yet, what’s holding you back?

That’s if for now, but I’ll be back tomorrow.   See you then.

LOVE this NEW blog. Perfect model for NEWBIES. The simplicity belies the powerful content. Speaks to varied learners. And, I'm partial to your integration of conscious living as you speak of the “9's”. Grand success for you and those you serve.

I do not have a blog and like many folks who work in small businesses, it's a challenge to overcome the barriers of finding enough time to write a blog. Finding time is difficult when every spare moment is used to run and grow the business. I have stacks of material and topics, but I do not have enough resources to maintain my own personal or professional blog. I use twitter, skype, linked-in and so on, but it's one more item that I cannot fit into my schedule.

I like the how you offer both video and text since some people prefer to read and others like to watch.

    1. I started to blog to express creativity while offering my readers something of value. For example, the most popular post I've written ended up being the most controversial one as well. It's title is how I leveraged 44,000 designers to create my logo. Some of my designer friends found it to be offensive while some of my small business owner readers were very grateful. I would just recommend writing for your readers and not plugging your own wares.

Also, it's important to be at least somewhat consistent in the frequency in which you post. Don't start off posting 5 days a week and then one month later have two weeks go by without a single post.

    Danielle,

First thank you for your patience in my 1 year non-blogging experiment!

Yes it’s is a challenge to incorporate of the elements of social media. The most critical piece is starting slow and continuously adding more as time progresses.

Sometimes the feeling of overwhelm hits us because we feel we need to do everything all at once.

Just take it one step at a time and look at how our currently marketing strategies are working. If it ain’t broke don’t fit it but improve upon it. ;-)

Thank you for your patience in my 1 year non-blogging experiment!

Yes I love both video and find it much easier for me to create then text.

Great point about focusing on one’s audience. A blog its about it’s readers.

Or a year go by ;-) The guide that I provided helps people get a sense of a blogging schedule.
